The export market of Egyptian mangoes is divided into three segments:
Tier one-main producing companies farming and exporting own mangoes and represent the most significant share of the exported mangoes.
Tier two small and medium enterprises also farm their products, but the rest goes to the local market.
Tier three represents small farmers, usually contracted with traders, which then take over export and post-harvest procedures.

What Are the Main Varieties of Egyptian Mango?
Mangos are tropical fruit that requires hot and humid weather for growth. Mango trees don't do well in colder weather. Its farming conditions make it ideal for farming in Egypt because of its short and mild winters. Ismailia is the governorate most famous for its mango production, but it is still farmed heavily in upper Egypt.
There are more than 30 varieties grown in Egypt, with the most popular varieties being (Local) the Zebdya, Mabrouka, Sideeka, Awees, (Export) Keitt, Kent, Tommy, and Naomi. Arab customers prefer Zebdya (sour used for juicing), Naomi, Tymor, and Awees, while the EU and Russia prefer Keitt, Kent, and Naomi. Preferred sizes for the export market are over 300 grams.
What Is the Seasonality of Mangoes in Egypt?
Roughly June to November is the harvest season for mangoes in Egypt. July is primarily for the local varieties such as Zebdya, while the export season starts in August with varieties such as Keitt and Kent. Fresh mangoes are in season from June to September; after that, frozen mangoes are out in the market.
